Gabriel Kramer for FYLPRO Board of Directors
Working as a news reporter and a documentary producer for Cleveland’s NPR and PBS stations means I need to have a lot of different skillsets. On the surface my expertise is as a writer, a storyteller and a communicator. In reality, my expertise is connecting with people. It’s my job to learn about what issues people face and what solutions they need. It’s this understanding of people that I want to bring to the FYLPRO Board of Directors.
My day job reporting on race and equity issues, which has awarded several journalism awards including an Emmy Award and a national reporting prize from the Asian American Journalists Association, exemplifies my dedication and passion for serving Filipino Americans. My roles as the President of the Filipino American National Historical Society’s Ohio chapter and an Executive Committee Member for the Cleveland Asian Festival exemplifies the leadership skills needed to serve FYLPRO.
FYLPRO changed my life. I am forever indebted to FYLPRO for my Batch 11 experience. We have an incredible organization filled with outstanding individuals. The respect and recognition FYLPRO gets from Filipino and Filipino American communities is warranted. Still, this young organization deserves growth and improvement.
I hope you'll consider my dedication, leadership and journalistic ability to understand the issues at hand and the solutions needed to help make the FYLPRO experience better for Batch 12, Batch 13 and Batch infinity.
